On Thursday, January 8, 2026, a truly historic moment unfolded at Sport Club Português with the official installation of the new Board of Directors. It was a moment filled with pride, emotion, and renewed hope for the future of an institution that has long stood at the heart of the Portuguese community.
This milestone carries special significance. Since April 2024, the Club had been operating without a formally elected Board, following the absence of candidate lists presented for election. In response, the General Assembly stepped forward and assumed responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Club, ensuring continuity, stability, and that the doors of this beloved home never closed.
With the installation of the new Board, a new phase now begins — one defined by renewal, structure, and forward-looking leadership.
The new Board, led by Mr. Pedro Pires, represents a strong and thoughtful balance between youth and experience. It brings together new generations eager to contribute fresh ideas and energy, alongside seasoned members who have served the Club across multiple Boards and possess deep knowledge of its history, values, and mission. This blend creates a solid foundation for progress while honoring tradition.
The General Assembly will continue under the leadership of Mr. Jack Costa, providing continuity, transparency, and a strong connection to the membership. The Fiscal Committee will be under the guidance of Mr. António Ferreira, ensuring financial oversight, accountability, and integrity.
The room during the ceremony was filled with excitement, optimism, and a shared sense of purpose. There was a clear feeling that a committed and motivated group is ready to work together and accomplish great things for this historic organization.
