Sport Club Português Soccer Department Fundraiser Brings Community Together in Ironbound

Newark, NJ – On Sunday, February 23, the Sport Club Português soccer department, known as Ironbound SCP, organized a fundraiser to support the team’s operational expenses. The club lounge was filled with players, families, and supporters, creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere for soccer in the community.

During the event, Director Sérgio Nobre addressed the crowd to highlight the department’s work, which currently manages four teams: A, B, Over 30, and Over 40, all competing at the highest amateur levels in the state. The dedication of the athletes and coaches continues to elevate the club’s name, keeping alive the tradition of soccer excellence at Sport Club Português.

The President of the General Assembly, Jack Costa, thanked everyone present, the sponsors who generously contributed to the success of the event, and the club’s volunteer team, who cooked and served with exemplary dedication.

East Ward Councilman Mike Silva expressed his pride in seeing Ironbound’s community organizations united, working together to keep the sport alive and strong within the community. As a sign of support, he also made a donation toward the event.

Ironbound Soccer Club President, Albert Coutinho, a partner of the department, congratulated Sérgio Nobre and Américo Marques for their ongoing effort and commitment to the growth of local soccer.

The entertainment was lively throughout the afternoon, with the crowd dancing to the sounds of DJ Bruno Costa, a former president of the organization and former soccer player, who also came out to support this noble cause.
